I've been out on the balcony. Yesterday as I was peering into the street I noticed that in the park across the way someone had stamped LEON XUE OJ in the snow. I thought about what a lovely multicultural city Brussels was. Then I realized that it was really JOYEUX NOEL upside down.
So, I decided to take some French classes to brush up on my French. They speak French in the Ivory Coast, so I wanted to feel better prepared. Since they speak English in Ghana, where we’ll actually be flying next week, the whole thing is sort of unnecessary. But what the heck, right?
I walked to school today through the crazy snowy streets and wiped out twice. I walked to the end of the Dreve de Nivelles, where my aunt lives, and made a sharp right onto Avenue de L'Oiseau Bleu (that's Blue Bird). I think that's a nice street to make a sharp right on.
School was OK. I'm a little more experienced than my classmates (Po Suan and Janice, who are from Singapore). To help me get a more out of it, my teacher got me to do a some explaining and teaching too, which was fun. I got to introduce myself to my classmates 1 million times and also find out about how they are doing 1 million times. They are doing tres bien, et vous?
I went to the Supermarche after class and bought cheese, wine, chocolate and stuff. I pretended I spoke perfect French and everyone was convinced, except when I tried to say I needed a bag, which came out "un tasse, s'il vous plait", which is not what I meant to say at all and especially confusing for the salesgirl because I kept pointing at the bags.
Tonight we're going to watch Annie Hall, which I've never seen. I'm excited because I feel like people always make reference to it and I never know what they are talking about.
